News Articles / THE 2122 GM's Choice Awards
September 23, 2021, 01:08:39 pm
It's that time of year and it's back! I am sadly your host (and your current champion) to go on some wild rides this GM's choice. I am sorry there is no pictures on this thread. I'll just attach a video in the WA chat. Suck it, Doc.

Firstly I'd like to go over and thank our voter by saying their demographics.
We had 5 of 15 GMs from the East vote, and 11 of 14 from the West! Even Jesus voted!

6th Man of the Year
Our first award is 6th man of the year!
Our runner up, with 25% of the votes is Ed Brown of the Minnesota Timberwolves who did have a pretty good season, but not good enough to top our winner, Jerry Orman of the Utah Jazz who accumulated 44% of the votes! Conga rats to Jerold! Shame you got swept in the finals, but hey I'm sure you'd take that instead of the whole Isidoro Erosa thing..

Most Improved Player
In this award we had a tie for both the runner up and victor.
Our runner ups are Lee Munoz of the Detroit Pistons and Merle Chan of the Rockets who each received 13% of the vote. Both of these players went on revenge tours this past season to show the league that they mean business. Shame the Rockets tanked for the king of Wakanda or they might have actually made playoff buzz. Munoz on the other hand helped lead a stingy Detroit defense in his GM, Janez's last ride where they just fell short after losing to the Magic in the ECF.

Okay onto our winners. With a third of the votes respectively we have Anthony Edwards of the Phoenix Suns and Gregory Thompson of the Wizards! Anthony Edwards put up MVP-like numbers in scoring this past season by leading the league in points per game when his GM, Ed was abducted by aliens and sadly missed the season.. Meanwhile in most of our nation's capital Greg T was sniping all season long! Will he follow in Riley Golden's footsteps and be traded as soon as he's not on a cheap contract? Only time and maybe Brian will tell.

Rookie of the Year
Our first award where someone who was nominated did not receive any votes. Sorry Jacques Johnson of the Clippers. Our runner up however was one of the first nominees for this award, Ed Brown of the Minnesota Timberwolves with 20% of the votes! Ed has now been the runner up for two awards. Get better and maybe you'll win one.

Our victor with 53% of the votes is, you guessed it Juozas Lubinas of the Chicago Bulls! Lubinas spent all season finding giant holes and sloppily penetrating straight through those cracks to score for Chicago. Shame he slipped and got hurt a couple times and cannot make free throws.

Rim Job Protector of the Year
For this award, it finished in a three way tie. Michel Jones of the Orlando Magic, Robert Melendez of the Seattle SS, and Wilford Nichols III of the Orlando Magic, all former teammates all ended with 25% of the votes. How did Ken not win a ring with all three of them?

All-League Center
Kozja Macka won this one. Dominating for his hive.

All-League Forwards
Our first all-league forward requires no introduction for he's your reigning spaghetti MVP and was one vote shy of unanimously becoming all-league center, with 98% of the votes you have Mr. High quality H2O himself, Bobby Boucher of the Warriors! He should still be named Ogukeye Dijeme, but we won't talk about that. As for our second selection at all-league forward there was a tie with Kamil SVATOS of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Daren Geller of the Detroit Pistons receiving 31% of the votes. Geller, who many declare to be a first ballot Hall of Famer and has been a Pistons centerpiece for years will be finding a new home after being waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves today, but that will not stop him from knowing how to put ball in hole. SVATOS on the other hand will be looking at property all around North America this off-season. Many wonder how he'll do in what could possibly be his last ride in Brown Town.

All-League Guards
A much closer race than all-league forwards and center, but nonetheless this award was filled with stars! And Vito Patterson! Our first, besting Sammy White of the Utah Jazz by one vote for the second spot is Kevin 'The Iguana' Anguiano. Once a staple of the Brooklyn Nets, Anguiano has found a very fitting home in Chicago next to Broderick Evans (who is still recovering from when Fred broke his jaw). We all know who Anguiano is. Your other all-league guard with 56% of the vote is Wilford Nichols III! Shame he lost in the finals though. Couldn't handle Kneebo.

First I'll go over who received votes. Kevin Anguiano and Kamil SVATOS both got 12.5% of the votes, but that was not enough. Our runner up, Kozja Macka of the Charlotte Hornets received 18.8% of the votes! Macka popped off last season for the bee boys and many thought had a chance at spaghettis MVP to just be edged out ( ;) ) by your GM's choice MVP in Bobby Boucher! Bobby carried a bottom-tier GM to his first ring this past season and dominated in the playoffs. Those playoffs included a 9 game win streak en route to being like his idol, Captain Insaneo and showing no mercy.

GM of the Year
This one was not very close and yours truly, Jake of the Warriors won with 8 votes (which was over half because Idoine didn't vote for either GM of the year or Coach of the year.) I'm not gonna say anything, but looks like I might be able to evaluate talent, Evan.

Coach of the Year
The award goes to David Ho! Wait, no wrong card that was David Ho's auto insurance business card my b. This one was a bit closer than GM of the year. FOR SECOND PLACE. Adam of the Grizzlies and Janez both received 2 votes while your truly received 8 votes. I got nothing to say really.
Also, Sen RBSL Champion Ronnie "The Logo" White received a vote....?

Other Superlatives
The league almost unanimously gave Zach an award so he couldn't compain and gave Billy Madison of the Seattle SS Most likely to star in a Hollywood movie. Veronica, he thanks you for beating the shit out of him. O'Doyle does not rule, it seems.

For your best bromance the majority of the league chose Vito Patterson and his right hand, going against Alex's ultra sex lord agenda. lmao rip alex.

6. James Bryant
In the same three way that sent Pratt to the Pistons, point guard James Bryant was sent to the Brooklyn Nets. Bryant, who was drafted by the Utah Jazz in 2112 was seen as a fun project player and has been overshadowed by his classmates of Wilford Nichols III and Riley Golden. James Bryant was promptly traded from the Jazz in 2115 to the Golden State Warriors in return for their picks. In Golden State, Bryant signed a very team friendly deal and was traded to the Detroit Pistons for Charlie Singleton and a pick. Bryant had spent four seasons in Detroit where he was able to win a league championship. Reporters league wide loved the move to pair Bryant and now former Brooklyn Net Kevin Anguiano, but now this move has been left scratching some heads. Bryant has 9,157 points, 3,126 rebounds, 3,579 assists, and 673 steals thus far in his career. Can Bryant elevate the Nets and bring them back into contention?

7. Harold Allen
Harold Allen, or better known as 'Hallen' was seen as a can't miss prospect out of Stanford in 2106. The extremely athletic 7 foot 4, 351 pound center was called game breaking by most and sadly was never able to live up to that expectation. Hallen has still been a monster in his career, winning a championship with Boston in 2112. Hallen spent eight seasons with Boston before being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers where he had spent one season before being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Hyman Bates. Hallen promptly found his best friends in August Benz and Kamil SVATOS in Cleveland where he spent five seasons. Now Hallen has signed with the Detroit Pistons. Will Hallen help the Pistons break past the Magic and rival Chicago Bulls? Hallen's career stats are 18,671 points, 8,402 rebounds, 2,580 assists, 880 steals, and 966 blocks.

7. Hyman Bates
Rumors have swirled around the league for awhile now about Hyman Bates leaving Charlotte. In a trade scheduled to go through on December 15th, Hyman will be sent to the Houston Rockets. Hyman, who was drafted as a can't miss scorer second overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2112 (wow that 2112 class was really good holy fuck). He spent three seasons in Cleveland before being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers for the aforementioned Harold Allen. Sadly, Hyman would not be able to stay in Portland for long. He was traded one year later to the Golden State Warriors where he put up a MONSTER early season that prompted him to be traded to Charlotte for six draft picks. Hyman is still a monster scorer in the league, however not being able to get past defenders in the playoffs. So far in his career, he has scored 12,650 points, 2,634 rebounds, 1,121 assists, 1,121 steals, and 166 blocks. GM of the Rockets, Bryant is excited to pair Hyman with Rickey Lopez (wow he replaced Ricky with a Rickey...) and Rosebudd Johnson to try to make a playoff push after being nudged out of the division last season by the Dallas Mavericks.

8. Fred Miller
How could anyone not notice Fred Miller leaving Chicago and departing for the land of the Mormons to join the Jazz? Fred who has been a game wrecker when on the court his entire career was shocked to hear that he had been traded after a disappointing playoff run in Chicago where he broke his foot and punched Broderick Evans in the face, breaking his jaw on the way down. Fred Miller joins Michael Campbell on the Jazz who are looking to take down the Denver Nuggets. Fred spent the majority of his career in Dallas before being traded to Chicago where he was able to win his only league championship in 2118. Fred has scored 21,823 points, 11,585 rebounds, 2,025 assists, 162 steals, and 2,106 blocks. Will Fred finally be able to stay on the court, or will there be a returning of the 'Fouling F*ck'? There is a buzz around the league that his former GM in Dalls, Jack would love to reunite with Fred.

9. Riley Golden
Riley who was the first to win a championship(2116) out of the historic 2112 draft class has suddenly been swapped around the league in this part of his career. Initially drafted 8th overall by the Washington Wizards, he came on strong scoring 1,989 points in his rookie season. After spending six seasons as the poster boy creating a problem where there was not enough usage to go around in Washington he was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics where he promptly spent one season and then was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers where he also spent one season. Now, a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, Riley wishes to become the leader of the team and push them back into the Western Conference Playoffs. GM of the Trail Blazers, Dan was quoted saying "I'm making a dog team! I got Riley and Levi." Well if Air Bud does tell the future then I believe the Trail Blazers are well in luck. Riley has scored 16,329 points, 2955 rebounds, 2,518 assists, 1,213 steals, and 194 blocks in his career.

10. Kevin Anguiano
The GM of the Nets, Rick was just serving his benevolent overlord in GM Max of the Bulls when he sent the iguana to Chicago for Max's anus and Armando Sandy cheeks. blah blah blah bulls blah blah blah. Why did this have to happen? Like what? Iguana has spent his entire career in Brooklyn up until this point where he has scored 9,992 points, 3,460 rebounds, 1,730 assists, 92 steals, and 179 blocks. Will this Bulls team be even better than before?

The league is better when the Wizards are tanking <3

June 24, 2021, 06:43:46 pm
This offseason will be seen as one for the ages as stars around the league packed their bags and set off to their new homes.

1.Ricky Roberts
Ricky, a stalwart for 12 seasons on the Houston Rockets was swapped to the Golden State Warriors this offseason in a hesitant move by the Rockets GM, Bryant. In his tenure with the Rockets, Ricky never missed the playoffs once tallying 16,510 points, 3,588 rebounds, 4,141 assists, and 2,601 steals and earning him a berth on the all 2110's all decade team! Despite dropping in efficiency, Ricky looks to lead a hopeful Warriors team this season.

2. August Benz
After a quick cup of coffee in Oklahoma City, Benz has signed with the Philadelphia 76ers for $8 million, reuniting with his former GM for his stint in Milwaukee. The former first overall pick is held in high regards league wide and has already received trade offers from an Eastern Conference contender. Benz was drafted in Miami before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks after the exodus of former GM Jake who is now the Warriors GM. After his two years in Milwaukee, Benz was traded to the Houston Rockets where he won his only title (so far), After this he found his best friends in Harold Allen and Kamil SVATOS in Cleveland for four seasons. Entering his 16th season in the league, Benz is hungry for success in the remaining years of his career. Benz has thus far totaled 20,466 points, 10,184 rebounds, 1,325 assists, 1,150 steals, 3,121 blocks, and a berth on the 2110's all decade team.

3. Stephen Curtis
After being drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2106, Stephen earned the nickname of Piggy. Curtis spent six seasons in Chicago before shocking the world and signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Curtis spent two seasons with the Wolves before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. After this Curtis did not even get to learn of his trade to the Miami Heat before being swapped to join Ricky Roberts in Houston where he spent one season before making the 197 mile journey to join the San Antonio Spurs, but just this offseason he was traded to Dallas and in the middle of making the 273 mile trek he was informed to start heading west for he was traded to the Phoenix Suns where he is joining budding star Anthony 'Ant Man' Edwards and looking to take a foothold in the Pathifik agaisnt the current league champion Los Angeles Matija Zupan-I mean Lakers and the tree worshipping Golden State Warriors. Piggy has an amazing treasure chest of accolades in his RBSL career and is a sure fire Hall Of Famer with 24,868 points, 4,233 rebounds, 6,741 assists, and 1,705 steals.

4. Vinko Brezec
After shocking all of Detroit and shattering Pistons fan's hearts by signing with the San Antonio Spurs, Vinko 'Big Breezy' 'Da Vinky' Brezec has been shipped to the Golden State Warriors to join Ricky Roberts, Bobby Boucher, and Kneebo Chad. Many around the league were left scratching their heads at the move to acquire Vinko, but the GM of the Warriors, Jake was seen just staring at a california redwood muttering "This is for you, Lino." So who knows how they truly feel about it. The only quote any reporter has gotten about the three way deal to bring in Vinko is "haha three way funny." The big 7 foot 2 tree will look to bolster an already stout Warriors defense, but will the losses of Tracy Ma, Matevz Smodis, Curt Smith, and Yugat Rona enable the Warriors to repeat their defensive performance from a season ago? Vinko joins the Warriors with 9,841 points, 7,297 rebounds, 1,269 assists, 388 steals, and 1,211 blocks. Vinko has had quite the journey around the league after being drafted fourth overall by the Philadelphia 766ers before being traded to the Seattle SuperSonics for a season, but then being traded to the Detroit Pistons where he was able to win a league championship before signing in San Antonio and leaving Detroit desperate for a center.

5. Rodney Pratt
Speaking of Detroit being desperate for a center! The Detroit Pistons have acquired former Philadelphia 76ers center Rodney Pratt in a three way involving the Brooklyn Nets. Pratt was serving as a mentor to young bigs, Brendon Swenk and Shaun Swanson. Pratt, on the last year of his contract was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder before being traded for a season to the volatile Los Angeles Clippers for Gel 'Playoffs???' Atojus and you guessed it, Gm Dr. Kyle traded him right to the Houson Rockets where he spent all but nine games of the 2118 season. The Pistons hope to slide Pratt right next to their staple of Daren Geller, but with the signing of Harold Allen this Pistons front court will be fun to watch. Pratt has tallied 8,011 points, 3,835 rebounds, 905 assists, 277 steals, and 879 blocks thus far into his career. The 28 year old center hopes he has found his long term home.

One of the biggest moves that has happened around the RBSL world was long time Houston Rocket Ricky Roberts getting traded to the Golden State Warriors for Allister Gatorski and the Warriors 2123 first round selection.

However, this seems almost eerily similar. Almost 100 years ago a similar move happened within the Rockets organization where long time point guard and Rocket, James Harden was traded to the Brooklyn Nets, uniting Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving. The Nets thought this move would put them over the edge in the Eastern Conference to only lose in seven games to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs. Granted Harden was unhappy with the organization when he left and the feeling around Houston seems to be full of sorrow and grief to see their beloved boy suit up for Golden State.

The GM of the Warriors, Jake has promised the GM of the Rockets, Bryant to take care of Ricky of as long as he can. Treating him like the star he is. However, some around the league are a bit more hesitant to be as excited about the move for the Warriors than Golden State fans. The GM of the reigning champion Los Angeles Lakers was quoted saying, "You should be focused on beating me... We trashed Ricky in the playoffs last season. I'm not worried."

Will Ricky carry the Warriors to their first Western Conference Finals appearance in 32 years or will he have a similar impact as Mr. Harden. Only so far before time catches up.

However, this may not be the only move the Warriors are going to make this offseason. It is well known that they would like to bring in another player of Ricky Bobby's stature to unite Bobby Boucher, Kneebo Chad, Ricky Roberts, and the unhappy defender duo of Zachery Pires and Tracy Ma.

Only time will tell how the Warriors will do. In other news, Kneebo Chad was seen walking around the facility just fine after rehabbing his broken leg! It was a scary sight when he went down against the Pelicans and fellow forward Bobby Boucher took that to heart yelling, "Don't you talk about my Kneebo!" throughout the remainder of that season and the postseason. When asked Bobby had to say, "Gator says he's so ornery because he has all those dang teeth and no toothbrush."

Coach Tre Es who we rarely get quotes from took to the podium to say that he's excited to announce that he is opening a PF Chang's in the stadium...

Will the Warriors come falling down or will they grow to be a mighty California Redwood?
